In 1687 we were liberated from the Ottoman Occupation. But being liberated doesn’t ment being free. The Austrian Habsburg royal family was keen to get the Hungarian throne what we never wanted but this has been the moment when they jumped on the possibility.
A country which never gave up it’s freedom against another one, which never let us go. How it happened so, we coronized Franz Joseph and Sissi to be the king and the queen of the country? I will explain it.
At the end of the 1800 Pest started to grow, the Andrássy Boulevard, which is the longest avenue in the city, and the first underground metro line (pulled by horses of it’s first period) in the continental Europe were ready.
The baroque Pest and the royal Buda were united, the Chain Bridge connected them. The first vapour train left the Western train station. So many thing are to explain and so many interesting connections are to being understand. Let the Pest side of the city and it’s history impress you on this tour.
